    “It’s more than a certification…it’s a dedication.”

Sustainability in Your Marketing - Like Eating Organic foods—
You Look Good and It’s Just Better for You.

As you look around, there is an effort by companies and individuals across our country go “green”,
or do those things which are sound for the future of our environment—sustainability.

SGP, FSC, SFI are just a few of the acronyms seen frequently in the marketing and printing arena. Many firms try to achieve these certifications because they feel certifications can help from a marketing perspective. And while this may be a good reason, after awhile, as more certifications become available and more companies acquire these certifications, the names and designations for them begin to look like, well, alphabet soup!

Another view is that it’s the right thing to do. Being a steward of our environment is responsible.
    It’s being a good neighbor.

Over the last few years, Print Art, Inc. has worked to become sustainable in several areas. But, what’s more, were working to help our clients market with sustainability in mind as well.

Companies making the move to sustainability in their marketing efforts realize it’s like eating organic foods – you look good and it’s just better for you. The same is true with marketing materials that have been produced using greener strategies.

    We view it this way:

    “It’s more than a certification…it’s a dedication.”

Not because it can be perceived positively from a marketing standpoint but because it’s who we are.
That’s what we believe. It’s just good business.

    We believe:

    • In Chain of Custody. Companies should be certified as to whether their management practices follow specified rules regarding environmental, social, and business functions of the forests. Chain of Custody programs simply ensure that an “audit trail” exists to guarantee that certified products are being delivered to the end user as promised.

    • In Lean Manufacturing. An overall methodology that seeks to minimize the resources required for production by eliminating waste (non-value added activities) that inflate costs, lead times and inventory requirements. Lean manufacturing emphasizes the use of preventive maintenance, quality improvement programs, pull systems and flexible work forces and production facilities.

    • Less is more, much more. It’s not the amount of point-of-sale materials, brochures, newsletters, direct mail pieces, posters, annual reports and other marketing materials you print, the success is in the effectiveness. Actually, we’re just as happy to print less than we are to print more. Because if we are printing less, hopefully it’s because we are guiding you on how to be more targeted and focused in your marketing by getting to those customers and prospects who will buy, rather than those who won’t. When that happens, you will more than likely spend less money, utilize fewer natural resources and at the same time increase your ROI, hit favorable Key Performance Indicators and become more sustainable in your marketing.

    • Building good business processes is good business. Following these guidelines and best practices ensures that we will run a tighter, leaner company. A tighter, leaner company is a more profitable company. A more profitable company as a business partner is better for our customers.

    • Environmentally sound practices in our plant, insures a healthy workplace for employees and customers while reducing our carbon footprint. In addition to Print Art’s FSC and other certifications, we recycle all metal plate materials, separate paper, bottles, and corrugated cardboard. In early 2009, we installed an environmentally friendly washer for all press parts and also began using the industries highest quality low-VOC (volatile organic compounds) vegetable-based inks exclusively on all projects. VOC’s are a major source of indoor air pollution and a cause of Sick House Syndrome.

That’s what we believe in. That’s who we are. That’s our dedication.
